Hearing on LD 2237 will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 @ 10 am, and we need any and all peers to help us shine a light on critical areas in need of reform in Maine’s mental health system.
Concept Draft: Lack of DLS (Daily Living Support) Services for Those in Need of the Service in Maine
Deadline to Respond: March 11, 2024 In the past few years, we have seen a sharp decline in Daily Living Support accessibility for people that need these services to be able to stay in their own homes successfully.

Deadline to Respond: March 11, 2024 Finding a usable and up-to-date BRAP application is very challenging. There should be a one centralized website to find an accurate current application.
Final Draft: Encampment Sweeps
Final Draft-Encampment Sweeps: Individuals in encampments should be included in creating solutions for affordable accessible housing. Communities should provide encampments with basic facilities like water, trash removal and a bathroom, and there needs to be robust services provided to all who are living outside.

DEADLINE TO RESPOND: February 12, 2024 We are very concerned that there is a trend towards “sweeping” encampments where people are temporarily living. CCSM would like to see all town/city/state officials stop these traumatic actions.

Critical Shortage of Stable Housing & Related Services Final Draft: 12-13-23
The Farmington Local Council has identified that the entire State of Maine is experiencing the lack of availability of permanent, stable housing and related services. It is long overdue to unstick the system.
CCSM Encampment Sweeps First Draft 12/13/23
DEADLINE TO RESPOND: January 8,2024 We are very concerned that there is a disturbing trend of sweeps to remove unhoused people/encampments in Maine. We want to see all town/city/state officials to stop these traumatic actions and support these individuals as fellow humans in need.

DEADLINE TO RESPOND: December 11, 2023: The entire State of Maine is experiencing a lack of availability of permanent, stable housing and related services. People diagnosed with mental health challenges are jailed at higher rates than people who may not experience mental health issues or carry a diagnosis.
