Local Councils

Local Council Meetings

Each month local councils meet in different areas of the State. Local Council members (fellow peers) work together to provide feedback and suggestions on local and statewide issues surrounding the mental health system.

What does this mean?

What are you, your family, friends, and fellow community members experiencing right now? It could be a lack of access to a particular service in your area, housing, or transportation issues, for example. The local council members may have discussions among the group and generate ideas for solutions or they may decide that the issue needs to be directed to the Statewide Consumer Council (SCC) as a statewide issue.

We also offer to help local council members to be active at the Legislature if they are interested. There are so many avenues to have your voice heard and this is where it can start for many of those who want to get involved, the choice is up to you!
