Election Process

Local Council Officers will be selected by a ballot vote at their Febr Local Council meeting. Each qualified candidate will be permitted to present a brief oral statement and respond to questions from those in attendance. All candidates will be given an equal amount of time for statements and questions.

Candidates MUST attend the local council meeting for the position they are running for.

At the conclusion of all statements and questions, attendees who identify as having lived mental health experience will take a vote by ballot.  Each person qualified to vote, including the candidates, may vote for only one candidate per ballot. At every election the CCSM holds, there is a “No Choice” option on each ballot. This option can be selected if you feel the candidate(s) are not qualified for the position. The candidates with the highest number of votes will be deemed selected as the Local Council Officers and will take office immediately.

The CCSM has the discretion to enact any additional procedures necessary to conduct the selection process, so long as they do not conflict with the CCSM Governance Guidelines or any other law.
