Legislative Action Needed to Pass LD 540

INDIVIDUALS NEEDED TO URGE THEIR LEGISLATORS TO PASS

LD 540: “An Act to Establish Peer Respite Centers for Adults with Mental Health Challenges in Maine”

The good news is that the Health and Human Services Committee has voted unanimously to pass this bill out of their committee. Next, it will go on to the full Legislature for a final vote. That is why it is so important to let all of our legislators know how important it is to have peer respites return to Maine. This is because peer respites do not replace traditional clinical services, rather they provide alternatives and choices for individuals.

This is not the final step though, if we are successful in the Maine House and Senate, the bill would go to the Appropriations table for the funding needed to make this a reality!
