CCSM Quarterly Newsletter – Winter 2024 Edition

Hello everyone!

I was driving into the office this morning and it was snowing and I am again reminded of how much I love all the seasons in Maine. I will not lie that seeing some spring flowers would be nice right about now!

I want to thank everyone who attended our annual meeting in January (now that was a snowy day as well!). It was a great day with lots of great discussions and fun!

We are very busy right now with lots of projects. This is the heart of the legislative session. We just had our second annual peer legislative education and advocacy day last week with great partners and we will be there again this week at the Hall of Flags for Disability Awareness Day (Thursday, Jan 29th) with Disability Rights Maine and other allies. We continue to advocate for LD 540-peer respites to be funded for this session. If you want to share your voice on this important program, please reach out to us if you need assistance.

We are also busy with the HOPE conference. The deadline for workshops has been extended until March 1st.

There is still time to give feedback on the Rights of Recipients revisions OBH Home | Department of Health and Human Services (maine.gov).

While I risk sounding like a broken record, we are only as effective as we can be when we hear from you. Whether that is in a local, a subcommittee, or talking or emailing with us. All of these avenues and more help us to amplify our collective voice throughout Maine. We need you!

Be well and let us know how we can be of support!
