Happy Summer everyone!

So many of us wait for these precious few months of summertime in Maine and I hope you get out and enjoy all that summer in Maine has to offer!

The team of 4 of us here at the CCSM, while taking needed time off are still very busy with projects. We are actively searching for our 5th team member to join our team. If you are interested here is the information on our position and how to apply: Outreach Coordinator – Augusta, ME 04330 – Indeed.com

The Legislative season is about to close and we are anxious for the final results to be known. This year we started an amazing postcard writing campaign and Ash, our Outreach Coordinator worked with Local Councils and peer recovery centers to facilitate the process.  We had an amazing HOPE conference last month as well. We are currently working on many different projects. Have you heard about the new model of mental health care coming to Maine next year? It is called CCBHC which stands for Certified Behavioral Health Clinics. We are hosting informational sessions every month in collaboration with the Office of Behavioral Health every month so we can learn and hear from you. We are about to begin working on the revision of the Rights of Recipients of Mental Health Services in collaboration with Disability Rights Maine and the Office of Behavioral Health so stay tuned for more information. If these topics are foreign to you, that is totally okay! We are willing to do education and support so that any and all are informed so that they can actively participate. As we always say, we are only as effective as you let us be. If we don’t hear what is important to you we cannot advocate without you! Please be willing to share with us in any way that works for you.

Don’t forget that Disability Pride Day is coming up on July 21st, Mill Park in Augusta from 11am-3pm.

We can’t wait to see you soon!
